Recommendations for driving DIO/PFI pins?

I'm looking at interfacing a slow clock generated by a microcontroller to the counter hardware on a NI X-series board.  The clock is only KHz, but I'd like to use it to read out timing information via the counter hardware that changes more rapidly.  Since this is a timing application, I'd like to avoid unnecessary jitter due to reflections or poor rise time.

I was going to select a line driver IC to take the (low voltage) output and drive down a few meters of wire to a NI breakout board accepting TTL logic levels.  However, looking through the documentation I see very detailed recommendations for driving the AI pins, but much less for DIO/PFI.  Is there any termination built into the SB-68 or similar breakout boards?  Should I be adding my own?
